The collegiate church of Saint-Ythier at Sully-sur-Loire

Before entering this church dedicated to Saint Ythier, a former bishop of Nevers, you should admire the high relief of Maurice de Sully at the foot of Notre-Dame de Paris, situated above the main entrance porch. Sure enough, Maurice de Sully who was born locally towards the year 1120, was at the origin of the building of Notre-Dame in 1163.

Above the wooden 16th century piétà, do not miss the stained-glass window, made at the end of the 16th century too, by a local artist from Gien. In the nave, you should see the burial vault of the Lords of Sully; it is identifiable thanks to the family coat of arms engraved on the modest tombstone.
